1. Home a mixed bag for retailers in February
New York – Continuing on their winners’ streak in February were the off-price retailers – Ross Stores and The TJX Companies – each of which rang in double-digit comparable store sales gains for the four-week period ending Feb. 27.  more  
2. WestPoint narrows losses
New York – WestPoint Home narrowed its losses in the fourth quarter as sales continued to slip but were nearly flat, the best quarterly sales performance of 2009.  more

3. Costco sees softlines as “standouts”
Issaquah, Wash. – Among the “standouts” in the softlines category, which posted “strong” mid-teen comps, were domestics and home furnishings during Costco Wholesale Corp.’s second quarter, the warehouse club reported during its earnings call.  more  
4. Park B. Smith developing on all fronts
New York – In a departure from past approaches, Park B. Smith is introducing collections of product that cross over its multiple classifications – rugs, kitchen, bedding, bath, bath rugs and novelty goods like wine holders and chair pads.  more  
5. Lauren RL Home offers refined designs
New York – Greenwich, a new solid color towel in 24 colors, is a major product entry for fall at Lauren Ralph Lauren Home.  more  
6. Hollander readies Court of Versailles introductions
Boca Raton, Fla. – Hollander Home Fashions is launching its new basic bedding collection for Court of Versailles during market in a display capsule inspired by the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles while reflecting modern times.  more  
7. UF&D adding to Borghese line
Des Plaines, Ill. –United Feather & Down is expanding the Villa Di Borghese collection with new spa, travel and bedding products during next week’s New York Home Fashions Market.  more  
8. Market Week show-in-show exhibitors announced
New York – HTT has announced the exhibitors who will be participating in the Global Interiors Home Collection Show, a show-with-show taking place during the New York Home Fashions Market.  more  
9. Stormy weather for pending home sales
Washington – Citing “abnormal” late-winter weather, the National Association of Realtors reported that “pending home sales are down and additional declines are expected.”  more  
10. Nourison appoints Levine to head sales in Mountain Region
Saddle Brook, N.J. – Nourison has appointed Keith Levine to the position of account executive, assigned to service a four-state area in the Mountain region.

11. Fremont Die Consumer Products adds McCabe as sales director
Williamsburg, Va. – Fremont Die Consumer Products has hired Peter McCabe as director of sales and marketing. He will be responsible for managing the sales team and all marketing, public relations and sales development efforts.  more  
12. HFPA publishes voluntary standards for bedding
New York -- The Home Fashion Products Association (HFPA) has published a voluntary standard for the makers of quality residential bed sheets, aimed at helping customers receive high-quality products.  more
