3. Dollar General to open 600 stores in next 12 months
Goodlettsville, Tenn. – Over the next year, discount department store chain Dollar General plans to open 600 new units and create about 5,000 new jobs to support the stores, the retailer said this week. more

4. Walmart to lay off 300
Bentonville, Ark. – Walmart U.S. plans to lay off 300 headquarters employees, primarily in corporate support. more

5. Angela Adams re-introduces old favorite, Jilly
Portland, Maine – Designer Angela Adams is bringing back Jilly, “a favorite pattern,” and this time in two colorways. more
