1. Comps positive, but slightly off the mark
New York – Same-store sales posted another gain in the final week of January but the 1.0% increase for the month missed the target of 1.2%,” the Johnson Redbook reported today.  more

Dubai – The first international Bloomingdale’s stores opened here yesterday, a 54,000 square foot, one-level home store and a three-level 140,000 square foot apparel and accessories store that anchor the Dubai Mall.  more

3. Bon-Ton’s Armeli, Lockwood promoted; Callahan to retire
York, Pa. – The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. is promoting two members of its merchant organization and saying goodbye to one, the regional department store chain announced today.  more  
4. Costco merchant named president
Issaquah, Wash. – Costco has promoted Craig Jelinek to president and chief operating officer. He will also join the board of directors.  more  
5. NYIGF to reorganize for 2013 events
New York – The New York International Gift Fair is dubbing its upcoming strategic reorganization plan "Focus Forward NYIGF 2013," which will comprise a series of changes to product categories and layout to the event.  more  
6. Shaw facilities win Waste Reduction Award -- again
Dalton, Ga. – For the fifth consecutive year, four California-based Shaw facilities have earned recognition from the CalRecycle’s  Waste Reduction Award Program (WRAP).  more
