1. NRF forecasts 2.5% jump in retail sales for 2010
Washington – Expecting the job and housing markets to improve this year, the National Retail Federation today predicted 2010 retail sales will climb 2.5% compared to 2009. Last year, according to the NRF, retail sales fell 2.5%.  more  
2. Comps post another positive week
New York – Same-store sales rose 1.0% in the week ended Jan. 23 after rising 0.9% a week earlier despite “small volumes and volatile conditions,” the Johnson Redbook reported today.  more

3. Consumer Confidence Index up for the third consecutive month
New York – The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index showed a modest improvement in January after increasing in December.  more  
4. ForecastIQ sees retailer comps forecasts growing slightly
Columbus, Ohio – Forecasts for same-store-sale growth are inching upward for retailers from a year ago, according to the latest ForecastIQ report.  more  
5. Tuesday Morning profit climbs in Q2
Dallas – The second quarter proved prosperous for Tuesday Morning, as the closeout retailer reported a 46% spike in net income to $18.5 million, or 43 cents per share.  more  
6. Hollander signs Court of Versailles license
Boca Raton, Fla. – Hollander Home Fashions has signed a license to become the exclusive producers of Court of Versailles basic bedding. The line will launch during New York Home Fashions Market, which takes place March 8-12.  more  
7. Reliance bringing Langdon dorm solutions to market
New York – Reliance Textiles will debut a dorm line by interior designer Libby Langdon at the New York International Gift Fair/Home Textiles Market at the Javits Center this weekend.  more  
8. Feizy antes promos for retailers at Las Vegas Market
Dallas – Hand-knotted, hand-tufted and power-loomed area rug manufacturer Feizy has come up with several special offers for buyers shopping at the upcoming Las Vegas Market.  more  
9. Kohl’s power is 100% green
Menomonee Falls, Wis. – Kohl’s said its purchase of nearly 1.4 billion kilowatt-hours of green energy will cover all of its electricity needs for the year.  more
