1. Redbook Retail Sales Index up 1.4% in the first week of January
New York -- The Johnson Redbook Retail Sales Index was up 1.4% in the first week of January, and equally up month to date compared to January of last year, relative to a revised target of a 1.2% gain. more

Minneapolis -- Target has selected its core vendor partners to assist in building and managing the new Target.com e-commerce platform that the discount department store chain plans to launch in advance of the 2011 holiday selling season. more

Columbus, Ohio – Big Lots Inc. has updated its sales expectations for the fourth fiscal quarter, which ends Jan.30. more

7. Wal-Mart Stores to close 10 under-performing Sam’s Clubs in the United States
Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has decided to permanently shut down 10 under-performing Sam’s Club units this year. more
