1. Retail Container traffic ends two-and-a-half years of Downturns, shows gains
Washington -- Import cargo volume at the nation’s major retail container ports ended a nearly two-and-a-half-year streak of year-over-year declines in December and is on track to show gains through the first half of 2010. more

2. Tuesday Morning reports net sales up
Dallas -- Tuesday Morning Corp. reported net sales increased 6.2% to $289.6 million for its second quarter compared to last year’s $272.7 million. more

Minneapolis – Target Corp. has acquired the Smith & Hawken brand and other intellectual property from Smith & Hawken LTD., a subsidiary of The Scotts Company LLC, effective Dec. 30. more

5. Industry veteran Kaliski, president of Royale Linens, passes
Tenafly, N.J. -- Industry veteran David N. Kaliski, who spent the past 16 years as president of Royale Linens, a subsidiary of Yunus Textiles Mills, passed away Saturday. more

6. Messe Frankfurt Inc. announces launch of Home Textiles Fabric Sourcing Expo (HTFSE) in July
Atlanta -- In response to industry feedback and "a high level of interest" from suppliers, Messe Frankfurt together with Sub-Council of Textile Industry, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, is set to launch the new Home Textiles Fabric Sourcing Expo this summer in New York. more
