Framingham, Mass. – Although TJX Companies historically does well during recessions, this is the first time the company is seeing business accelerate during a recession, its chief executive told analysts this morning. more

Minneapolis – Driven in part by weather shifts, discretionary categories like apparel and some home showed improvement at Target during the discount department store chain’s third quarter. more

Little Rock, Ark. – An income tax benefit helped push Dillard’s into a profit during the third quarter. more

4. Home Depot sees declines, updates outlook
Atlanta – Citing “a great deal of pressure” in the housing and home improvement markets, the Home Depot reported declines in net earnings, sales and comps in its third quarter. more

5. TJX ramps up outlook
Framingham, Mass. – On the heels of its third-quarter profit surge, TJX Companies has raised its outlook for the fourth quarter and the year. more

6. Comps positive in November’s second week
New York – Cooler weather put consumers in a more positive frame of mind about fall merchandise during the second week of November, the Johnson Redbook reported today. more

7. Sun Yin heading to bigger showroom space
City of Industry, Calif. – Sun Yin U.S.A. and its newly formed Suntex Designs division will move its New York showroom to 295 Fifth Avenue from its current location at 261 Fifth Avenue. more

8. Arslan promoted at De Leo Textiles
High Point, N.C. — Ismail Arslan has been promoted to vice president of operations for Turkish fabric source De Leo Textiles. more
