New York – To boost the launch of Royal Velvet home textiles at Bed, Bath & Beyond this June, brand owner Iconix Brand Group has retained actress Brooke Shields to star with her family in print and online ads.  more  
2. Regal Fabrics to launch Mastercraft, pick up Hafner business 
Middleton, Mass. – Upholstery fabric house Regal Fabrics has acquired exclusive rights to produce and sell the Mastercraft novelty tapestry designs for furniture, including best sellers such as Route 66, Rue de Paris, and Fly Away Home.  more  
 
3. Sam’s Club offers free membership deals
Bentonville, Ark. – In a sign of toughening competition and increased promotion, 593-unit membership warehouse operator Sam’s Club will give away free annual memberships – or a $40 gift card to existing members – in a promotion to run May 18-31.  more  
4. Rizzy Rugs hires ‘Rug Doug’ Ernewein   
Calhoun, Ga. – India-based handmade wool rug manufacturer Rizzy Rugs has appointed industry veteran Doug Ernewein to the company’s newly created post of vp, product development and training.  more  
5. IHFC president Lindh resigns  
High Point, N.C. – Tom Lindh has resigned as president and ceo of the International Home Furnishings Center, effective immediately, the showroom building complex announced today.  more
