1. LNT postpones $16M loan payment 
until May 15  
Clifton, N.J. – Struggling home furnishings specialty retailer Linens ’n Things postponed until May 15 a $16.1 million interest payment due today to its debt holders, and also obtained agreement from its lenders to take no “rights and remedies” action until May 13, the company stated in an 8-K filed with the SEC.  more  
2. Retailers get jump on comps, margin woes seen  
New York – The first week of the April was a sound one for retailers, with comparable-store sales up 2.0% over the same week one year ago, the Johnson Redbook reported today – but noted that margins are at risk for the quarter.  more  
 
3. JCPenney announces Linden Street launch 
Plano, Texas – Calling it “the most comprehensive home brand launch in company history,” JCPenney today began the drum roll for the July debut of Linden Street, its latest private label lifestyle program.  more  
4. Four execs depart as Duckwall streamlines  
Abilene, Kan. – In what it called the “first step in a multiphase program to streamline,” rural general merchandiser Duckwall-ALCO Stores said that “four members of corporate management have been terminated.”  more  
5. Services scheduled for fabrics figure Inoff  
Greensboro, N.C. – Services will be held on April 27 for industry veteran Gary Inoff, who died on April 12.  more  
6. Your HD Expo introductions needed now!
The deadline is Friday, April 18 for HTT to receive your digital images of new product introductions if you are an fabric or finishing home textiles exhibitor at the Hospitality Design HD 2008 Expo in Las Vegas (May 15-17).  more
