1. Proxy battle starts for Dillard’s board  
New York – An affiliate of hedge fund Barington Capital Group will nominate four people for seats on the 12-member board of directors of $7.2 billion department store chain Dillard’s.  more  
2. Home still a hit at Ross 
Pleasanton, Calif. – Breaking a trend seen throughout much of the market in recent months, home was among the top-performing departments during the fourth quarter at Ross Stores, the company reported today. (The top performers: dresses and shoes.)  more  
 
3. Hafner to exit furniture fabric market    
Granby, Canada -- Textiles producer Hafner Inc. said it will cease operations at its weaving plant here on May 2, effectively ending its furniture fabric sales in Canada and the United States.  more  
4. Maffei-Toolan joins P/Kaufmann   
New York – Pam Maffei-Toolan will become vp of design for P/K Lifestyles, a division of P/Kaufmann, effective March 31.  more  
5. Consultants join forces as Grayson/Hughes 
New York – Retail consultancy The Grayson Company and executive search firm E.A. Hughes & Co. have combined forces to launch Grayson/Hughes, a resource for the retail, apparel, home fashions and consumer products industries.  more  
6. ADFC renews Palmer, Hollander leadership   
New York – The American Down and Feather Council (ADFC) has re-elected to second terms both Stephen Palmer, as chairman, and Jeff Hollander, as vice chair.  more  
7. Call for High Point new products!
HTT is preparing its preview of new products set for introduction at the High Point International Home Furnishings Market.  more
