1. Wal-Mart debuts private label Canopy program    
Bentonville, Ark. – Wal-Mart today began offering the first products of its private label Canopy home furnishings line in some stores and online at http://www.walmart.com/canopy.  more  
2. Department stores finish well below February comp goals  
New York – As the first month on most retailers’ fiscal calendars, February is a time for final clearance sales and the start of transition to spring merchandise – but it certainly was not a reassuring way to start the year, with retailers reporting same-store sales up just 0.5%, trailing the modest goal of a rise of 0.7%, the Johnson Redbook reported today.  more  
 
3. Shopko prototype on the way in Iowa  
Green Bay, Wis. – Upper Midwest general merchandiser Shopko plans a groundbreaking for its fifth Iowa store later this month, an 80,000-square-foot prototype in Council Bluffs that will feature improved layout, sightlines and decor.  more  
4. Hollander promotes Lopez to division head  
Boca Raton, Fla. – Basic bedding supplier Hollander Home Fashions has named Raoul “Yogi” Lopez svp for the Down Comforter and Mattress Pad Division, replacing Amy Webster, who was recently promoted to run the Pillow Division.  more  
5. JCPenney taps Vidal Partnership for Hispanic marketing  
Plano, Texas – Department store retailer JCPenney has named The Vidal Partnership its U.S. Hispanic advertising agency of record.  more  
6. Glen Raven anoints Tri Vantage division 
Glen Raven, N.C. – Specialty fabrics supplier Glen Raven, Inc. has unveiled the name for its new distribution division: Tri Vantage, LLC.  more  
7. TiA Call for Submissions
Home Textiles Today invites suppliers that exhibited during New York Home Fashions Market and/or the recent New York Home Textiles Market Week/NY International Gift Fair to submit images of their “Best of Show” new products for the TiA -- the Textiles Industry Award -- which spotlights the most trend-right textiles coming out of Winter Market.  more
