Washington – Airing more indications of a general economic slowdown, the U.S. Department of Commerce today reported a drop in new home sales during January and a slump in new orders to manufacturers.  more  
2. Milliken adds new MLB, NBA rug licenses
LaGrange, Ga. – With collegiate and NFL teams already on its side, Milliken Rugs said it has now “rounded out” its athletic team rug offerings through the company’s recent alliance with Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association.  more  
 
3. Kelly Preston ‘Makes a Statement’ for Karastan   
Dalton, Ga. – Karastan’s latest celebrity-driven national advertising campaign spotlights actress Kelly Preston in the upscale area rug company’s Make a Statement 2008 ad presentation.  more  
4. Surtex sessions on converting art to products  
White Plains, N.Y. – At the upcoming Surtex show, May 18-20 at the Javits Center in New York City, four seminars will address how licensing can help artists and designers move their works into product categories including home textiles.  more  
5. TiA Call for Submissions
Home Textiles Today invites suppliers that exhibited during New York Home Fashions Market and/or the recent New York Home Textiles Market Week/NY International Gift Fair to submit images of their “Best of Show” new products for the TiA -- the Textiles Industry Award -- which spotlights the most trend-right textiles coming out of Winter Market.  more
