1. JCPenney expects tough year
Plano, Texas – Despite a smaller than expected drop in quarterly profits during the fourth quarter, JCPenney execs today told analysts they expect 2008 to be challenging year.  more

3.  Rug design honor bestowed on cmi  
Pawtucket, R.I. – Braided texture rug and accessories manufacturer cmi (Colonial Mills Inc.) has received for the fifth time an AmericasMart America’s Magnificent Carpets award, this time in the category designated as Power-Loomed Rugs from $400.01 to $1,000 for a 5-by-8.  more  
4. Invista’s McCracken dies   
Toldeo, Ohio. – Memorial services were held for Steve McCracken, who had served as president and ceo of Invista, the former DuPont textile business, after it was sold to Koch Industries.  more  
5. TiA Call for Submissions
Home Textiles Today invites suppliers that exhibited during New York Home Fashions Market and/or the recent New York Home Textiles Market Week/NY International Gift Fair to submit images of their “Best of Show” new products for the TiA -- the Textiles Industry Award -- which spotlights the most trend-right textiles coming out of Winter Market.  more
