1. Mohawk 4Q caps big profit upswing in 2007  
Calhoun, Ga. – Floor coverings supplier Mohawk Industries recorded huge upswings in profits during fiscal 2007, capped by fourth-quarter net earnings of $379.1 million, up 252.6% from $107.5 million in the prior year period.  more  
2. Indo Count adds quilts, curtains
At the New York Market -- Indo Count has expanded into the quilt and curtain categories.  more  
 
3.  Elrene updates Echo, adds products    
At the New York Market – Elrene Home Fashions, which just handed the company reins to the family’s fourth generation of Siegels, has created a new approach to its Echo license, added innovation in the table topper category, and has expanded its soft window treatment offerings.  more  
4. Downlite named Vendor of Year by Macy’s 
Mason, Ohio – Down comforter, pillow and related products manufacturer Downlite has been recognized by Macy's as a Vendor of the Year and a Five Star Vendor – one of only three U.S. domestic manufacturers so honored for 2007, the company said.  more  
5.  Bloomingdale’s to open in 2009 in Phoenix   
Cincinnati – Department store operator Macy’s Inc. will open its first Bloomingdale’s in Arizona with a 180,000-square-foot, three-level store in the CityNorth area of Phoenix planned for fall 2009.  more  
6. Industry objects to Homeland Security tariff ruling  
Washington – A coalition of almost 100 manufacturers and retailers representing broad swaths of American business have voiced strident objection to a proposed rule change by the Department of Homeland Security that, the group said, would “toss out 20 years of legal precedent” and “amount to a hidden tax on U.S. consumers.”  more  
7. Textillery Weavers to showcase menswear looks 
Bloomington, Ind. – Hand-woven and jacquard woven throw supplier Textillery Weavers will display menswear-influenced throws by head designer Judith Rose at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, N.C., April 7-13.  more  
8. New England Curtain Show set for March 29-31  
Taunton, Mass Curtain and drapery buyers are welcome to attend the seventh New England Curtain Show, to be held March 29-31 at the Holiday Inn here, which will feature a number of new exhibitors.  more
