1. Same-store sales limp back upwards   
New York – January same-store retail sales were up 0.3% in January, following a 0.6% drop in December, which came after a 4.2% gain in November, the Johnson Redbook reported today.  more  
2. CHF Industries clarifies Fall River plant status  
New York -- CHF Industries has issued notice that it will close the curtain manufacturing portion of its Fall River, Mass., plant by the end of March. The move affects about 90 employees.  more  
 
3. Westgate acquires Quaker’s Brazilian operation
New York – Westgate buttressed its pursuit of the global home furnishings market, buying the Brazilian assets of now-defunct Quaker Fabrics.  more  
4. Liquidator expects to acquire Domain Home   
Norwood, Mass. — Liquidator Great American Group says it expects to acquire retailer Domain Home this week with its stalking horse bid, because no better bids were submitted and the bankruptcy court auction was called off.  more  
5.  Promotions, retirements at Bon-Ton 
York, Pa. – Department store retailer The Bon-Ton Stores announced senior management changes including the retirement of John Gleason, svp corporate credit, and Colleen Golomski, svp human resources; effective dates are Feb. 16 for Gleason and March 1 for Golomski.  more  
6. Hixon promoted as Schoenbeck retires from Duckwall-ALCO
Abilene, Kan. – Rural discount merchandiser Duckwall-ALCO announced that James Schoenbeck, svp of real estate, is retiring after more than 32 years with the company.  more  
7. Future market dates clarified
New York – With the Home Fashions Products Association (HFPA) having just announced the shift in future market dates for the New York Home Fashions Market, colloquially known as “market week,” to a March/September schedule, some in the textile industry are confused.  more
