Early afternoon in Frankfurt…
January 11, 2007

Foot traffic at the show significantly heavier this morning, though still not jam-packed. Exhibitors today echo comments we heard yesterday: meetings have been a matter of quality over quantity.

Sorry I can’t speak to design trends yet. I’m been doing more talking than looking, up to this point. One trendette I have noticed: photocopy pillows and duvets. I don’t mean photorealism, though I guess it’s that, too. I’m talking about what looks like a photo of your kids and the dog transferred onto linens.

And, really, blecchh. But don’t take my word for it. Many of my showroom favourites never make it off the launch pad. So maybe this is the next big thing for the Millennial generation.

Another thing about Frankfurt today — the wind is blowing something fierce. Feels practically gale-force, like a heavy-duty day in Chicago.
