Green...or Garbage - Part 2

More on my eco thoughts...I just returned home from almost a week in New York City for market and was glad to see some major players taking a more serious approach toward environmental friendliness.
To name a couple:
Bacova Guild Ltd.'s showroom displays a collage of framed photographs that demonstrate how this area/accent rug, bath rug and bath accessories supplier has for several years now closely considered the manufacturing and shipping impacts of its products on the earth.
Not only is the company becoming increasingly energy efficient in production, it also recycles boxes and containers and other handling and packaging materials. not to mention its product line is largely "sustainable," with a new bath rug line that is certified as organic both in fiber content and manufacturing.
Mohawk Home stressed at its showroom its "greenworks" effort, which calls for the use of recycled and organic materials in its products, such as the more than 30 million pounds of truck tires it recycles each year to create many of its welcome doormats.
While many others admitted to wanting to do more on the"organic" and earth friendly scope, several told me such efforts were in most cases not financially possible. Costs for creating certified organic products, for example, are high and force suppliers to pass that added expense on retailers who in turn hike the price point for these goods.
And the problem with that, they say, is that the end consumer is in most cases not willing to pay more for products with eco benefits. Not yet, anyway.
