Springs dreams up latest in ad series

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 6/18/2001

FORT MILL, SC — One of its own employees and a worthy cause are the focus of Springs Industries' newest addition to its "i dream" ad campaign.

Margaret Pearson, a Springs employee since 1996, has been chosen by the major mill as the model for the next print ad for "i dream," which has been an ongoing campaign for the company's Springmaid line of towels and sheets. Pearson currently works as a weaver instructor at the company's White Plant, located here.

Pearson, a widow and mother of four sons, was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 1998. Following successful treatment, she has been cancer-free for three years.

"I am truly appreciative of this opportunity to shed light on a disease so many women struggle with each day," said Pearson. "As a breast cancer survivor, I know the importance of finding joy in things that make us human, such as pursuing a dream. I hope consumers who see this ad will find strength in the simple message and take confidence in a proven brand that is dedicated to women's issues."

According to Betty Turner, vp, public affairs, Pearson was chosen from a small pool of Springs employees after a search was conducted through the company's corporate medical department. After being approached by Springs' marketing team, Pearson agreed to do the ad, which depicts Pearson in profile wrapped in a Springmaid sheet.

The "i dream" campaign was launched in April 2000 and targets women of all ages and from all walks of life.
