Waverly takes a Canadian Holiday

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 5/7/2001

NEW YORK — Waverly's newest licensing agreement has enabled a Canadian manufacturer to produce finished home fashions and market them in Canada under the Waverly name for the first time.

Holiday Home Fashions, based in Toronto, is manufacturing and marketing soft window treatments, chairpads and decorative pillows as well as luxury bedding, including comforters, duvets, shams and bed skirts, using the Waverly brand name. Waverly is a division of F. Schumacher & Co.

"In order to efficiently respond to the Canadian market, it was important to partner with a Canadian manufacturer who would offer our products at competitive price points," said Christian Michaels, president, Waverly. "We are delighted that Holiday Home Fashions is producing and distributing finished home fashions products in Canada. We have been impressed not only with the quality of their manufacturing and product capabilities, but also with their strong retail positioning."

The collection began shipping in January and uses current Waverly designs. The soft window treatments, chairpads and decorative pillows are available through independent retailers, specialty catalogs and specialty and department stores. The luxury bedding collection is only offered through independent retailers.

Price points begin at $260 for a full-size comforter, while a full bed skirt is priced at $89. Soft window coverings are offered in tab top and rod pocket styles with retail prices ranging from $52 to $73.

"The teaming of Holiday Home Fashions with Waverly is a very positive step for our company," said Nick Grieco, vp, Holiday Home Fashions. "We wanted to launch a product line associated with a brand name; Waverly's position as the premier decorating resource in home furnishings made the choice easy. Through our partnership we are able to offer the consumer an opportunity to decorate her home using the Waverly lifestyle."
