Spring Street unveils bath accessories line

By Andrea Lillo -- Home Textiles Today, 4/16/2001

NEW YORK — Though it's been developing private label accessory collections for about five years, Isadora & Mizrahi brought its one-year-old Spring Street label to the Jacob Javits Center for the first time this market.

"We heard that this was the place to be for representation and getting our name out there," said Michael Mizrahi, partner. With an eye-catching booth of daisy heads pasted on lime green walls, the company received a great response to the collection of bath accessories, napkin rings, tablewear and more.

In such elegant shapes such as a flower head which doubles as the top of a lotion pump or a dragonfly on a napkin ring, the collection uses Swarovski crystals for details and glass bases for the bath accessories. Everything is hand-enameled in Rhode Island and designed in-house.

"We have an identifiable look," said Jack Tinney, vp. "We're known for our enameling and stones."

Besides displaying its existing line, Spring Street debuted its tabletop collection of serving pieces, along with additional shapes in napkin rings and pieces in bath, such as the tissue box and wastebasket. Though the whole line is filled with beautiful colors, this market saw the introduction of the new combinations of black and gold and white and silver.

Wholesale prices in the Vine collection, where pieces were enameled with a vine design, ran $18 for either a lotion pump or a toothbrush holder, $22 for a cup or a large picture frame, $48 for a tissue box and $70 for a waste basket.

In the Flower collection, a lotion pump, cup and toothbrush holder all were $15 each, a rectangle flower frame was $24, a tissue box as $40 and a waste basket at $70.

The company also has a showroom at 225 Fifth Avenue.

The collections that are already at retailers such as upscale specialty stores and better department stores have garnered "an unbelievable response," Mizrahi said. "We've already got reorders."
