Tommy Hilfiger brings 'home' new bedding, bathroom designs

New Back To School ensemble unveiled

By Marvin Lazaro -- Home Textiles Today, 4/9/2001

NEW YORK — Tommy Hilfiger's Home division continues to stay in touch with what consumers want for their bedrooms and bathrooms.

Hilfiger Home, based here, unveiled two new groups for one of its signature bed collections, as well as new additions for its Collection line, a new sheeting line and a new Tommy Back to School ensemble.

Both Juliana and Heirloom Paisley are new for Hilfiger's Crest Collection. Both the complete bedding and top-of-bed ensembles are designed with a master bedroom look in mind but with much more perceived value, as well as actual value. The sheeting program for both is a 400-count, 100

A leather look pattern adorns the duvet cover of Paper Blossom, which used a filament plaid coordinate pillow case and winter olive coordinate sheeting. A metallic-thread decorative pillow completes the ensemble.

Layered Shadows features a raisin colorway with soft stripe print coordinate sheeting and three types of decorative pillows. Layered on top-of-the-bed is a filmy coordinate bed sheer, which brings a slightly dramatic flair to the duvet cover. An alpaca stripe throw, also in raisin, is also new.

A handkerchief layout adorns Herringbone Plaid, which is done in a steel colorway. The engineered top-of-bed also features two decorative pillows, a box pillow in gussetted silk tattersall and a plaid gauze. A knit throw reminiscent of a sweater, as well as a floating stripe blanket complete the masculine look.

Done with a cream percale fitted sheet and with a stippled flower print on the duvet cover is Heathered Flower. The two decorative pillows are constructed of either reversible wool or marled tweed while a wool alpaca stripe blanket completes the ensemble.

Raised Mesh, done in white with off-white coordinates, is the only sateen construction of the new introductions and features a jacquard woven duvet cover and pillow cases. One of the decorative pillows is done in a silk organza with floating sequins, while a thread mesh covers the other. Complementing the sateen flat sheets and pillow cases is a dobby woven top sheet.

A queen duvet for the percale sets will carry a retail sale price point of $220, while a flat or fitted sheet will carry a $70 retail sale price point. A queen duvet for the sateen Raised Mesh will carry a $350 retail sale price point, while a sham will be offered at $85.

New for the Khaki collection are Raffia Weave and Waters Stripe, both of which are offered with percale sheeting.

Raffia Weave features a bee flower print as well as a pebbled texture blanket and decorative pillows. Water Stripe is offered in an ink colorway with a woven top-of-bed and printed sheets.

A queen-size duvet will be offered at the retail sale price point of $170, while sheets and shams will carry a $45 price point.

Jacquard towels have also been added to the Collections line in two patterns, Alba Floral and Staggered Stripes, and in four colors — fern, oyster, berry and charcoal — with a price point of $19.99. For the Khaki line, three colors have been added to the palette, reptile, patina and shale, while the deep-blue ocean colorway was discontinued.

Added to the Collections line of down comforters is the Almost Down comforter, which features a damask cover, while two new pillows, heathered and gussetted, were added to the Khaki line.

New shower curtains were also added. Iced and Tissue are new for the Collections line, while the rip stop shower curtain, for the Khaki line, added two colors, metal and fatigue.
