eBay launches first pop-up store

New York – eBay today opened its first pop-up store, a 5,500-square-foot shop in midtown Manhattan dubbed “eBay @ 57th St.”

Located at 57th Street and 5th Avenue, the store offers samples of 400 products, which shoppers then purchase online from eBay sellers using touch-screen kiosks or eBay’s iPhone app.

eBay’s trend experts will be in-store to offer advice, and eBay will have personal shoppers on hand as well.

On Black Friday a limited quantity of an in-demand holiday gift items will be awarded to the first 100 shoppers who visit the store.

“eBay offers great deals and incredible selection on every holiday gift imaginable,” said Lorrie Norrington, president of eBay Marketplaces. “Our pop-up experience gives shoppers a unique way to see some of the best of what eBay sellers offer this holiday.”

The store also will feature on display one-of-a-kind items including from designers and celebrities that will be sold to benefit charity. In addition, all online purchases made at the pop-up shop will be matched dollar-for-dollar by eBay, up to $200,000.

The store will operate through Nov. 29, although it will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Hours 10 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sundays.

On Black Friday, Nov. 27, doors will open at 7 a.m.
