Showtime readies events for anniversary fair

High Point, N.C. – The Showtime fabric trade fair will celebrate its 40th show here with a line-up of special events.
Designer Jane Matteson will give a talk on “Fashion to Frame: Interpreting the Trends for Maximum Sell-Through” at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 7, and 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8.
Trend forecaster Ellen Gefen will present “Trendspotting” at 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 7, and 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8.
A breakfast panel discussion – “Life After China: The Western Business Equation Changes Again” – will feature Zack Taylor, vice president of sales and marketing, Valdese Weavers; Bob Choppa, vice president, Lexington Furniture; Charles Adams, chief sales officer, Victor Group; Jason Carr, principal, Softline Inc.; and Jane Roberts, director of upholstery merchandising, Thomasville Furniture.
It will take place Monday, Dec. 7 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. at the String & Splinter Club’s second floor Tomlinson Room. Seating is limited and reservations can be made by contacting Eric Schneider at (917) 251-9922 or eric@sipco.net.
An opening night party on Sunday, Dec. 6, Showtime will be themed “Fabulous at 40,” from 6-8 p.m. in The Factory at Market Square. There will be an industry mixer the following night from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., also at The Factory.
On Tuesday night, Dec. 8, MMPI sponsors “Get Twisted in the Land of Ahhs,” a Showtime social held in Suites at Market Square from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
The event will take place around a new trend presentation: “Amazed: A Visit to Ahhs,” which is inspired by the 70th anniversary of film “The Wizard of Oz.” The 4,000-square-foot trend installation by designer Mike Farrell features images created with surprising materials to illustrate the value of change and irony.
