AmericasMart releases lineup for January markets

Atlanta – The AmericasMart here is gearing up for two of its biggest biannual markets – the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market and the Atlanta International Area Rug Market – coming up in January.
The Mart is enhancing its gift and home furnishings market – its first market of the year. And the area rug market will be featuring the National Oriental Rug Show (NORS).
To support these two events, the AmericasMart will host several special events, celebrity appearances and educational programming. They include:
- The AmericasMart University (AMU) Social Media Day, featuring keynote address by Erik Qualman, author of “Socialnomics: How Social Media Transforms the Way We Live and Do Business,” with breakout sessions and classes following in the new AMU social media curriculum;
- The January 2010 Market Gala at the High Museum of Art, celebrating the John Portman: Art and Architecture exhibition;
- Presentations by a lineup of culinary celebrities, including Alton Brown, Tyler Florence and Virginia Willis, in the mart’s Gourmet Demonstration Kitchen;
- A series of presentations by designers Thom Filicia, Brad Ford, Kathryn Ireland and others at the mart’s HOME section;
- The America’s Magnificent Carpet Awards (AMCA), sponsored by Architectural Digest, honoring the industry’s top manufactures and designers of area rugs and carpets from around the world;
- Museum of Introductions (MOI) gallery, featuring the most innovative and design-driven area rugs and carpets.
