-- Home Textiles Today, 10/19/2009

Omaha, Neb. — Pamida Stores has hired retail veteran John Harlow to be president and ceo.

Most recently, Harlow was executive vp and coo at Circuit City. In a career spanning more than 25 years, he has held senior executive positions at A&P, Toys “R” Us, Genovese Drug Stores, and Jamesway. He also has served in senior positions at Deloitte Consulting and Andersen Business Consulting.

“John is an accomplished retail leader who can build on Pamida’s firm foundation and position the company for growth in the years ahead,” said Scott King, a senior managing director for Sun Capital, the investment firm that owns Pamida.

He also praised chief merchant Ken Seipel, who served as interim ceo and will continue with the company.

Pamida currently operates 207 stores located in smaller communities in 17 Midwestern, North Central, and Rocky Mountain states.
