Grand Rapids, Mich. -- The Gift and Home Trade Association (GHTA) is set to host a networking and information sharing session during the New York International Gift Fair in February 2010.

The session, entitled "Speed Networking & Sourcing with the Gift and Home Trade Association," will focus on industry innovation and change. The event is scheduled form 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on February 1. The NYIGF is set to take place from January 30 to February 4.

Vendors, sales agencies, and retailers will join members of the GHTA board of directors and the GHTA's Retailer Advisory Board (RAB), for networking and information sharing. The seesion will allow participants to connect, share business strategies and practices (such as how to build a sales force, source packaging, or source an overseas factory), and learn more about the GHTA.

"We benefit greatly from sharing experiences, knowledge and practices," said Diane Carnevale Jones, executive director of the GHTA. "And this session will provide vendors, sales agencies and retailers with an ideal opportunity for this important communication to take place."

Added Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM svp: "The retailer-focused educational session, coupled with this new industry-inclusive networking event, are wonderful complements to NYIGF's slate of winter market activities."

The session is free, but advanced registration is required. For more information or to register, visit www.nyigf.com/programs.

The GHTA and the NYIGF are also teaming up to present the new "Buying Basics – Increasing your ROI at Tradeshows" seminar, which will be led by veteran retailer and specialty retail author Carol Schroeder of Orange Tree Imports in Madison, Wis.

It is scheduled from 3:30 to 4:40 p.m. January 31 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in suite 1A02-03. Schroeder will offer suggestions for maximizing inventory dollars, working with vendors and sales reps, and getting the most out of a tradeshow experience. Benno Duenkelsbuehler, the GHTA's Retail Advisory Board Director and principal with (re)ALIGN Strategy, will also participate in the seminar, addressing the benefits of association membership.

Tickets to this seminar are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event.
