New York – NexCen Brands Inc. has sold its Bill Blass license to Peacock International Holdings for about $10 million in cash. NexCen will use the proceeds to pay down debt related to the Bill Blass business, including the home license.
NexCen – whose other properties include five quick service restaurants as well as The Athlete’s Foot and Shoebox New York retail operations – purchased the Bill Blass brand assets in February 2007, although that deal did not include a separate couture business known as Bill Blass Ltd. LLC. NexCen purchased that business this past July.
Earlier this year NexCen announced it would sell the Bill Blass and Waverly license businesses to improve liquidity. In July, Waverly was sold to Iconix Brand Group and an investment group led by Windsong Brands and Hilco Consumer Capital.
