O Ecotextiles exec to address green issues at High Point

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 10/16/2008 1:50:00 PM

High Point, N.C. – How to make more eco-friendly textiles choices is the topic of a free luncheon session during the International Home Furnishings Market here next week.

Patty Grossman, ceo of O Ecotextiles and head of the textiles division for the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC), will deliver the speech in an event co-hosted by Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. and Home Furnishings Business.

Gross and her colleague Chris Putnam, who is director of development of the SFC, will discuss “Green Upholstery,” or more specifically, “everything you need to know about frames to foams and fabrics, and how and why to green your textile choices.”

O Ecotextiles is a Seattle-based producer of high-quality organic fabrics, and is focused on raising awareness and supporting environmentally preferable processes, practices, power sources and materials for textiles -- from a product’s beginnings to its arrival in homes.

The company said it “aims to change the way fabrics are made, by proving that it’s possible to produce luxurious, sensuous fabrics in ways that are non-toxic, ethical and sustainable.”

This luncheon is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 on the top floor of the Suites at Market Square, next-door to the EcoStyle Pavilion.
