Frette unveils holiday goodies

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 7/30/2008 2:17:00 PM

New York – Frette is preparing its fourth limited edition luxury bedding collection along with its holiday gift collection.

The Cristina bed is named for the 17th Century queen of Sweden known for her independence and the subject of the 1933 Greta Garbo film “Queen Christina.”

The collection will consist of just 64 numbered sets in an ebony box containing a duvet, two Euro shams and two pillows. Retail price is $6,000.

The red and black duvet is a framed pattern in silk ‘boutis’ woven on a three-and-a-half meter, purpose-built, artisanal loom. After weaving, the fabric is water-treated to create a unique finish that gives the framed tapestry-style design a hand-painted look.

Accessories include Regal throws and cushions in long-hair black mink; Egyptian cotton sateen Glow bedsets in lacquer red with burgundy borders and embroidered Frette crests; Embrace towels in monogrammed lacquer red or burgundy terry; black silk Belle dresses with a torsadé over a bare back; and black mink and silk Eleonora open slippers.

The collection goes on display in Frette windows worldwide in November.

Frette is also launching a holiday collection consisting of blankets and throw pillows, loungewear, robes, scarves, ponchos, fragrance, silk slippers, cashmere socks and a silk and cashmere eye mask.

A line of custom blankets and throw pillows are available in 35 colors and either cable or geometic knit. Oban blankets and throws are 100% merino and retail at $1,200 for blankets and $595 for throws. The cashmere Caprice blanket retails at $1,400.
