Textiles From Spain spotlights luxury fabrics

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 7/16/2008 12:48:00 PM

New York – A group of Spanish textiles producers in town for the Premiere Vision Preview event this week held their own showcase, “Let Spain Dress You Up” last night.

The product spotlight and cultural event -- , organized by Textiles From Spain, a unit of the Barcelona-based trade organization Consejo Intertextil Espanol -- was held at the Rubin Museum of Art, just a block away from the Metropolitan Pavilion site of Premiere.

While most of the 17 suppliers who were featured make fabrics and trims specifically for high-fashion apparel companies, a number of them produce goods for bedding, kitchen, upholstery and other home furnishings uses.

These suppliers include: Rafael Catala, maker of fine jacquards since 1770; Areto Textil, specializing in jacquard knits, embroideries, bulky effects and custom dyeing; IEBOSA, with strength in lace and embroidery; and Textil Ortiz, which makes a wide range of textiles including both synthetic and all-cotton lace goods. Most of these companies have U.S. agents.
