By Carole Sloan -- Home Textiles Today, 7/14/2008

New York — The HTT Top 50 Retailing Giants in home textiles eked out a scant 1.0% sales increase in 2007, even as the total home textiles universe declined 2.2%.

The exclusive Home Textiles Today annual survey pegged the 2007 home textiles retail universe at $26.8 billion, down from revenues of $27.4 billion. The Top 50 together had home textiles sales of $25.1 billion, up from $24.8 in 2006. The Top 50 garnered a 93.5% share of the total universe, compared with 90.5% in '06.

In a year that was disappointing in sales, there were 24 companies reporting declines vs. 23 reporting increases. Two were flat with '06. The newcomer to the list, at No. 49, Garden Ridge, was not ranked for '06.
