Global Home Textiles Canceled

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 7/7/2008

White Plains, N.Y. — Tradeshow producer dmg world media has canceled the Global Home Textiles and Global Home Décor events, and has streamlined its B2R division.

Penny Sikalis, most recently vp global business development and group show manager for the two events, reassumes the role of show manager for Surtex, reporting to svp Phil Robinson. Sikalis will also serve as manager of GLM's Gourmet Housewares Show and will become international sales manager for the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF).

B2R was formed in May, after dmg acquired show operator GLM last October. The company produces the New York Home Textiles Market Week as a component of the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF). In the new management structure, svp Dorothy Belshaw will direct Market Week and NYIGF, along with the Gourmet Show and Surtex.

A new report to Belshaw is GLM vp Christian Falkenberg, a 16-year veteran of the company who becomes manager of NYIGF. Sales managers reporting to Falkenberg are: Danielle Johnson (At Home), Liz Beauregard (Handmade), Paula Bertolotti (New York's Newest, New Applicants), Marc Delman (Tabletop & Housewares), Melissa Engongoro (Extracts, Personal Accessories), Scott Kramer (General Gift), Randi Mohr (At Home, Studio, Value Added Program), and Priscila Onou (Accent on Design, Personal Accessories & Details).

Belshaw reports to B2R evp Alan Steel, along with Robinson and svp Lori Kisner. The B2R division has eliminated 31 positions.

The streamlined business, said Steel, enables B2R "to be more nimble and responsive to the markets and industries which we serve."
