Regal Readies Hafner, Mastercraft Lines

Middleton, Mass. — Decorative fabric suppliers Regal Fabrics has acquired the exclusive license to produce the designs formerly made by Hafner Inc., which in March shut down its production facilities for furniture fabrics in North America.
At the same time, Regal has acquired the exclusive rights to produce and sell many of the iconic Mastercraft novelty tapestry designs from Madison Avenue Designs and Marketing LLC, owner of the designs, according to Steve Kahan, president of Regal.
"Regal has been designing and weaving beautiful novelty tapestries for 20 years, said Herb Kahan, ceo of Regal Fabrics, which produces jacquard and high-end Krelan fabrics. "Now we can offer our own vast selection as well as provide our customers with continuity on the Mastercraft bestsellers." He called the agreement "a natural fit," adding, "We are happy to have the chance to bring these great designs back to market."
Regal will produce as many of the Hafner designs using its worldwide sourcing as "is economically feasible," with the exception of about 20 patterns that are primarily for the RV market, Kahan said. Most pricing will be the same as Hafner's "or fairly close. We started producing the first samples in China."
"Regal will have the exclusive license to produce these items for all customers worldwide," said Hafner president Adrian Spoerry. "Any other companies offering Hafner designs will be in violation of our copyrights, which we intend to enforce."
Regal plans to expand distribution of the fabrics as well as making them available for China-to-China delivery.
About 14 of the Mastercraft patterns will be available at Showtime in High Point, N.C. next month, Regal said.
