Colonial Mills Extends Jensen Line

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 3/24/2008

Pawtucket, R.I. —Braided and braided-texture rug and accessories manufacturer cmi (Colonial Mills Inc.) is expanding its program with fabric and quilt designer Lynette Jensen by adding two new contoured rectangle rugs and corresponding basket accessories to coordinate the designer's “Lodge and Lakeside” Thimbleberries-branded fabric and quilt patterns.

The introduction comes as Jensen celebrates the 20th anniversary of her Lodge and Lakeside designs. The Four Seasons and Cottage Comfort collections were cmi's first offerings in collaboration with Jensen.

The new Thimbleberries Lodge and Lakeside rugs are more rustic and traditional; the construction employs both buff chenille and Thimbleberries fabrics. The contoured rectangle collection is available in two sizes: 22-by-34 and 6-by-9; and the baskets measure 18-by-18-by-12.

“Our first two Thimbleberries collections have enjoyed exceptional sales in retail and catalog outlets nationwide, so it was an easy decision to introduce another complementary design to help celebrate,” said Donald Scarlata, cmi president and ceo.

The Thimbleberries fabric design and quilt pattern company serves the independent market with products that generate an estimated $50 million at retail; sales average more than four million yards a year. Jensen has established 850 Thimbleberries Quilt Clubs worldwide and has published 30 Thimbleberries fabric, quilting and pattern books.
