Milliken Debuts Sports Licenses

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 3/10/2008

LaGrange, Ga — With collegiate and NFL teams already on board, Milliken Rugs has "rounded out" its athletic team rug lineup by an alliance with Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association.

Rob Beistline, Milliken Rugs market manager for area rugs and matting products, told HTT, "This basically rounds out where we wanted to go with our program. It captures all of the professional leagues we were looking for."

But, he added, there is actually one more sport Milliken Rugs has its eyes on: NASCAR. "That's the only one we're really missing now, and we're working on a different angle to get that one," he said.

The new MLB and NBA rugs, like other Milliken Team varieties, are machine-made of 100% nylon. But the focus for these rugs is on larger sizes: 6-by-9, 9-by-12 and 11-by-13, plus carpet and runners. "We're after the game rooms, larger size family room, man caves and kids rooms," he said.

There are two design versions: the Team Spirit pattern, which features the team logo; and the Team Repeat, which features the logo all over. A 6-by-9 is set retail for $199.
