Park B. Smith Offers Broad New Lines

By Carole Sloan -- Home Textiles Today, 2/12/2008

At the New York Market — Continuing its decade-plus involvement in eco-friendly products, Park B. Smith this market introduces a collection of recycled cotton bedding, quilt sets and decorative pillows, joining its Eco-Ordinates of organic cottons and vegetable-dyed home textiles products of recent years.

The duvet sets use recycled cotton yarn that also is carbon-free, according to Park Smith, company ceo. The quilt sets are cotton filled. The five-pattern collection includes stripes, checks, and solids. The color palette includes loden, mushroom and charcoal. Prices for the cotton ensembles range from $129 to $199.

A major collection of rugs and placemats using kilim designs are featured in cotton chenille jacquards. The rugs range from 24-by-36 scatter rugs to room size 5-by 8 as well as runners. Room-size tapestries and new colors in the cotton collection are also new to the rug collection.

In the Eileen West licensed program, new decorative fabrics feature solids, pintucks, pleats, embroideries and prints for both shower curtains and lined window panels of tab tops as well as Magic Blinds. The shower curtains coordinate with the towels from American Dawn, the bath licensee. Prices range from $24.99 to $49.99.

Other new fabrics in the window line are flocked polyesters, leather looks created with embossing, and printed crushed corduroy.

The company is making a major thrust for the back-to-school market, bringing together products from across its segments into a unified Junior Shop that highlights rugs, throws, Magic Blinds, window panels, and decorative pillows.
