Welspun Hygro Bath Rugs Draw Fast Interest

By Cecile B. Corral -- Home Textiles Today, 2/25/2008

New York — In four months, Dennis Fein and his team have come up with more than 100 new bath rug constructions to launch India-based Welspun into the category.

As Welspun embarks on the new business segment this market, Fein – who heads the company's new rug division – said retailers are responding favorably.

A hit has been the Hygro grouping, which employs Welspun's own proprietary high-grow yarn technique. These bath rugs are an extension of and were adapted from the company's popular bath towel program by the same name.

"The new Hygro bath rugs have drawn an immense amount of attention for the new technology," Fein told HTT. "These rugs, like the towels, get thicker and softer and more luxurious with each wash."

Set to retail for $19.99 to $29.99, Hygro bath rugs can come in any of the 40 colors used in the Welspun bath towel line, but can also be made to coordinate "with any retailer's towel program," he said.

The solid textured patterns available include reversible looks, diamonds, diagonal or horizontal stripes and others.

Also hot has been the Luxus collection of hand-carved, three-dimensional bath rugs. They are made of 100% cotton but are also available in a natural fiber blend construction. It is made to coordinate to Welspun's Luxus bath towel program.
