Donna Karan Deals Color

By Carole Sloan -- Home Textiles Today, 2/25/2008

New York — Donna Karan Home is indulging in color, with rich reds leading the way.

Wildflower Fields in cherry, one of two new color programs featuring a duvet cover, printed comforter set and solid comforter set, highlights a horizontal panel print with embroidered flowers mixed with a printed cotton sateen sheet set.

The second, Urban Vine, is featured in a pale aquamarine as the lead item for the companion group.

Both collections have a range of towels, shower curtains and bath accessories to coordinate.

In the cherry statement, the companion beds are Modern Gardens, in neutral with cherry with applied ribbon florals as a comforter set; and City Lights, a solid printed grid design sheet.

The duvet for Wildflower Fields is $159 queen; the four-piece comforter set in City Lights is $359 queen.

Urban Vine has three appliqué and embroidery techniques in organza and ribbon on a cotton duvet with Vintage Brocade, a yarn dyed jacquard; and City Lights, in an aquamarine comforter set completing the trio.

Pure DKNY is an ambitious program integrating color into the formerly white and ivory toned Pure, which was inspired by vintage and casual looks. The new two-part collection offers Pure Comfort, in organic cotton, exclusive of decoration and offered in six colors; and Pure Raffia, a combination of white and ivory with silk ribbon trim, cutouts and embroidery — all hand stitched.

Prices for each grouping are lower than any earlier Pure programs, according to Patsy Pollack, president. Pure Comfort is $279 to $329 for the queen; Pure Raffia is $299.

Two towels are part of the Pure DKNY collection, each of ringspun organic cotton loops and base. One is a mini-pleat with a pucker stitch, the other has a crochet stitch. Both are $29.99.

Fire Flower and Evening Sky are additions to Collection, the top of the Donna Karan Home line. Fire Flower carries out the move to red in the designer's color palette. The crepe duvet is enhanced with matte and shine floral embroidery. Evening Sky is an opulent silk charmeuse in a steel gray ombre with sequins and bugle beads as embellishments.

Essentials has been expanded in color with gold joining the palette in a color block, horizontal stripe duvet in silk taffeta.

New bath items include Urban Brights, a collection of rubber bath accessories and towels in bright colors with contrasting stitched stripes.
