Alpha in Feng Shui Balance

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 2/25/2008

New York — Alpha Home Fashions unveiled a new line of dec pillows, table linens and chair pads this market to help consumers bring their lives into balance: Shades of Feng Shui.

The line's palette features eight feng shui colors related individually to wealth, relationships, health, children, ancestors, career, fame, knowledge and charity. Each item is embellished with an embroidered ying-yang symbol, and most items are constructed in faux silk dupioni.

Products are tagged with a feng shui map — called the bagua — to help consumers apply the color principals of feng shui in their homes.

Alpha ceo Elaine Pankowicz, who has had her own home renovated to bring it into balance with feng shui, developed the tag in conjunction with a feng shui master.

"What this line says is if you introduce a pillow or a runner into the home it can help create a more positive environment, more positive energy," said Pankowicz.

Pillows come in five sizes: three squares and two octagonal, the classic bagua shape. Most of the table linens are trimmed with crystals, another important element in the feng shui system and one that helps rotate energy.

The moderately priced line targets catalogs, specialty stores and the big boxes, Pankowicz said.
