New York Showroom Market Dates Altered Again
Sept/March Schedule Begins in 2008

New York — The Home Fashions Products Association (HFPA) has announced a new schedule for the New York Home Fashions Market, colloquially known as "market week."
The new schedule follows a March/September format and will begin the second half of this year when the showroom market will take place from Monday, Sept. 15 through Friday, Sept. 19. (Dates had previously been set as Aug. 10-14.)
"Over the past six months, the board and I have talked to members, retailers, media partners and key industry partners in an effort to balance various industry commitments and needs," said Barry Leonard, HFPA president as well as president and ceo of Ex-Cell Home Fashions and Glenoit LLC.
Dates for 2009 have been set for March 9-13 and Sept. 14-18.
Leonard also said HFPA continues working with George Little Management (GLM) — organizer of the New York International Gift Fair/New York Home Textiles Market Week — to find a way to bring dates for both events into line. The process is ongoing.
GLM vp Penny Sikalis said the organization was disappointed about the time shift, but noted, "We also will continue to work with HFPA towards unified market dates in future."
Dates for the luxury-oriented New York International Gift Fair/New York Home Textiles Market Week stand as previously announced: Aug. 14-24, 2008; and Jan. 22-29, 2009.
