Home Textiles Targeted by WMC

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 2/4/2008

Las Vegas — Catering to the home textiles industry is high on the agenda as the World Market Center here announced city approval of its plans for Building D, a 1.1 million-square-foot showroom and exhibition facility set for completion in 2010.

"Home textiles is a key component of the 'total home' approach that World Market Center provides," said Mark Fraser, WMC director of home textiles leasing, and the former publisher of Home Textiles Today.

"By including home textiles in a much bigger, broader and more diverse home furnishing market, the World Market Center will be able to put textiles suppliers in the path of many more potential buyers and partners," Fraser remarked, suggesting that suppliers can tap new channels of distribution by exhibiting here.

Before joining WMC, Fraser was publishing director in China for Reed Business Information, the parent company of HTT. He was publisher of HTT from 1998 to 2005.

Targeted tenants at WMC will consist of a broad cross-section of home textiles suppliers and products including top-of-bed, window treatments, table linens, bedding lines and more, the company said. Due to the growth in this sector, Las Vegas Market has launched ConText this week at MGM Pavilion, an area focused on textiles and top of bed products.

Currently exhibiting home textiles companies at Las Vegas Market include Eastern Accents and Pine Cone Hill. Arriving in summer 2008 with the grand opening of 2.1 million-square-foot Building C will be SDH, Legacy Home, Mystic Valley Traders, Wildcat Territory, Etoffe Makara, Dreamfit, Berry Creek Home Collection and Lamoon.

When fully built out, in 2013, WMC will occupy 12 million square feet in eight buildings on a 57-acre campus.
