Cotton Inc. Signs 'Natural' Suppliers

New York — AQ Textiles and Sure Fit are among the first six companies authorized to carry Cotton Incorporated's new Natural trademark on packaging for their 100% cotton products.
"The latest incarnation of the Seal of Cotton trademark is timely, reminding consumers that cotton is a natural fiber and a natural part of their lives, said Berrye Worsham, Cotton Inc. president and ceo.
The new green trademark is part of Cotton Inc.'s highlighting of the environmental advances growers have made over the past 25 years. Said Worsham: "Pesticide use has been cut in half and the use of irrigated water has been reduced nearly that much. At the same time, yields have increased on virtually the same acreage."
AQ Textiles will carry the Natural seal on its new Intellatex line of bedding imbued with a negative ionic charge to isolate positively charged allergens.
Sure Fit will use the logo on a new line of organic slipcovers.
Other companies authorized to debut the trademark are sportswear producer Concorde Apparel; infant/layette accessory producer Cutie Pie Baby; fine art paper producer Legion Paper; and Filo American, producer of cotton swabs, rounds and squares for the personal care products sector.
