Iconix Licenses Royal Velvet Rugs to Mohawk

New York — Brand management firm Iconix Brand Group has entered into a license agreement for Royal Velvet with Mohawk Home for bath, scatter and kitchen rugs.
Mohawk Home will debut the new Royal Velvet collections for spring 2008; the program is targeted to U.S. and Canadian department stores, specialty stores and online retailers.
The previous licensee for Royal Velvet rugs was Maples Industries; Official Pillowtex last summer had renewed that agreement through 2010, but Pillowtex itself has since been sold and Iconix spokesperson said the Maples license had expired.
Iconix obtained Royal Velvet along with the Cannon, Charisma and Fieldcrest brands in the September acquisition of Pillowtex.
