Qual Fab Debuts Custom Program

By Carole Sloan -- Home Textiles Today, 1/14/2008

Hialeah, Fla. — Qual Fab is launching a new program for custom printed fabrics produced here that will allow customers to purchase quantities as low as 300 yards of a color.

In business for more than 50 years, Qual Fab designs, manufactures and sells printed fabrics as well as dyed and woven fabrics for indoor and outdoor uses.

The Chateau Cher print collection is using a range of base cloths that "represent a considerable upgrading from our conventional fabrics," explained Jill Liebson, president. "Our customers are trading up and we see this as an opportunity to move into high end applications for indoor and outdoor furniture fabrics as well as for many different types of home furnishings fabrics as well as high end retail fabric stores."

The Chateau Cher collection has been created by a group of outside designers who are experienced in bedding, window and decorative pillow design, furniture design and RV design, Liebson said. The initial collection includes seven distinct groupings.

At present the new fabrics include a cotton hopsack, a linen, a rayon/cotton blend, a diamond dobby, a sateen stripe and a FR Avora. A unique feature of the program, Liebson pointed out, is the Custom Color Kaleidoscope that offers 500 solid color choices with a numerical identification. Customers can order as little as one yard for $22 to $25 per yard.

In the print program, customers can order 300 yards of a color for a surcharge of $1.50 per yard and 500 yards for a $1 surcharge over the quantity prices.

The custom program offers delivery from concept to production in less than four weeks. Custom printing deliveries are within seven days, Liebson said.

Qual Fab will continue to produce its basic fabric line as well, she added.
