Flatow Promoted at Dan River

Danville, Va. — Dan River has elevated Michael Flatow to ceo from coo, and he will retain his title of president.

Flatow, who joined the company Sept. 13, also concurrently serves as ceo of Best Textiles International Ltd. He is based at the company's headquarters here.

Prior to joining Dan River, Flatow was executive vp and general manager of the $4 billion wholesale apparel business of Hanesbrands Inc. Within Sara Lee Corporation, he has also served as ceo of the Sara Lee Personal Products Australia Division, as president of Champion Products and as president and ceo of Sara Lee Hosiery.

Sanjay Purohit, who has served as Dan River ceo since January 2007, has accepted a key, newly created consultative position within the textile group of the parent company, Mumbai-based GHCL Ltd. Purohit will continue to be based in the United States.
