Moumi to Show Crewels at Showtime

Cumming, Ga. — Moumi Designer Solutions, an India-based decorative fabrics company, will make its debut at Showtime in High Point, N.C. next month.

The company specializes in crewel embroideries on a variety of base cloths including cotton and cotton duck, silks, linen, cotton velvet and rayon velvet. This year the company also began the production of hand tufted and hand knotted rugs.

Sunil Eamani, owner, said Moumi had been selling primarily in Europe until 2006 when it began selling in the United States. It currently has warehouses here and in Hyderabad, India.

The company started as a drapery workroom 30 years ago, next moved into retailing, and then wholesaling. The decorative fabric design and manufacturing business began in 1997.

Distribution is to retailers, jobbers, healthcare and hospitality providers, catalogs and manufacturers. The company has a "partners in profit" program designed specifically for fabric merchants that allows retailers to return fabrics for credit toward future purchases if they have not sold at least half of the original purchase, Eamani related.

Prices for the fabrics — FOB India — range from $15 to $20 a yard for the cottons to $28 to $33 for the rayon velvets. There is a $5 per yard charge for door-to-door delivery in the United States via air freight, or $1 per yard for ocean transport of large quantities.

For Showtime, the company will give customers who place a $5,000 order, a $500 laptop computer. "We don't have sales reps so this represents what we would spend for reps," Eamani explained. The company will be in the Suites at Market Square 1-741.
