New ownership at Golding Fabrics

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 8/24/2007 12:18:00 PM

Archdale, N.C. -- Golding Fabrics, a well-known supplier of upholstery fabrics, prints and denim to the furniture industry and decorative jobber trade, has new ownership: Graham and Linda Buckner, along with partners Chris and Patti Gunter and Tedd Smith, have purchased stock owned by Tom Forrester, who has left to pursue other interests.

The new partnership plans to broaden Golding’s base and become more diversified. Golding’s long-time designer, Agnes Preston-Brame, will continue to lead the creative process.

“Golding is a leader in new fabric constructions, fashion forward/saleable colors and well-priced high end fashionable looks,” said Graham Buckner, who is a founding partner. “We pride ourselves on our quality fabrics and industry innovation, and will stay focused on maintaining that quality and service to the industry.”

Golding Fabrics, established in 1999, was one of the first suppliers to produce cut-and-sew for furniture in China.

The partners have extensive experience in the industry.

Graham Buckner is the former West Coast regional sales manager for Covington Fabrics. His wife Linda Buckner also worked with Covington Fabrics in Dallas, New York, and Los Angeles, as well as with The Robert Allen Group in Dallas.

Chris Gunter has 25 years in contract furniture sales and manufacturing experience; Patti Gunter has served as an independent representative in the fabric industry since 1997. Tedd Smith is a veteran in the home fashion industry.

Peter Gallagher has joined Golding as general manager. He is a former svp of sales with The Robert Allen Group, a consultant in the high-end designer market, and most recently svp of sales at American Century Home.
