Revere Augments Bath Lines

Bath Towel Assortment Doubles With Addition of Four New Styles

By Cecile B. Corral -- Home Textiles Today, 8/13/2007

New York — Bath towel manufacturer Revere Mills was packing them in this market with an expanded pre-packaged banded and ribbon-tied towel collection, as well as more bath rug styles than ever and a new construction in bath ensembles.

The pre-packaged bath towel assortment has been doubled, with the addition of four new styles as well as the new option for retailers to bundle towels as they wish — as ensembles, bath only, hand only, wash cloths or special combinations.

Elaine Aschenbrand, vp marketing and product development, said the towels in this program are all terry cotton and include striped, jacquard and solid styles.

The four new styles are: Broad Street, a solid and stripe combination coordinate set; Triumph, a solid colored program that coordinates with a solid white that dons an end hem border colored to marry to a colored solid; Acclaim, a cotton stripe look that matches to a colored solid; and Intrigue, a new striped, solid and check group.

Intrigue is a collection representing a new construction for Revere. It uses "mingled yarns" — two yarns that are twisted for a shaded effect. It comes in sets of check, solid and striped designs that are dictated by the four available colors — thyme, Wedgwood, cocoa, and cinnamon.

Another new bath towel construction is Revere's Reversible collection. This group's pieces feature a striped velour side that reverses to a coordinating solid-colored cotton terry. It comes in four colorways — thyme, marine, spice and natural. The 27-inch-by-54-inch bath towel is set to retail for $14.99.

In the bath rug category, Revere continues to grow this more recently added line with several new looks.

At the discount department store level, the novelty Pom Pom grouping takes brightly colored solid bath rugs and embellishes them with chunky, colored 2.5-inch diameter pompoms around the edge of the rug. They come in bright white and four cheerful colors — mellow yellow, raspberry soda, key lime green, and Caribbean blue.

For mid-tier and better retailers, the aptly named Palisades collection comprises rugs that are solid-colored and knobby in texture, "like palisades, which are hilly places," Aschenbrand explained.

The Palisades rugs go with a towel program by the same name. These are textured loop-terry solid-colored towels in eight colors – like the rugs – maize, ivory, taupe, thyme, vintage green, medium blue, cocoa, and ginger.
