DKNY Fashion Gets Fresh

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 8/13/2007

New York — Donna Karan Home is repositioning its DKNY Fashion line, making the components less complicated, shifting to sets, adding comforters and paring price points by roughly 30%.

The new attitude is "fresh, young and modern," said Patsy Pollack, ceo, Donna Karan Home. "We've varied a lot of the base cloths and constructions."

Examples of the new focus include Black Glamour, an ivory floral print on a black satin ground with a gathered ribbon detail, and Loft Stripe, bold yarn dye stripes made with different types of weaves to give the face of the comforter dimension. Four-piece queen duvet or comforter sets will retail around $359 or $399. Previously, under the open stock configuration, a queen duvet would retail from $229 to $329.

The DKNY Fashion line also debuted two fashion solid color bath towel programs. Urban Pique is a ring-spun cotton in a pique weave with contrasting bands of white stitched stripes. Urban Pique is being offered in black, green, chocolate, rose, petroleo, chino, glacier, plum, petal, maize, and opal. The 30-inch-by-54-inch bath towel retails at $14.99.

Also at $14.99, the Bamboo Boucle towel consists of 65% cotton/35% bamboo low twist. Colors include black, celadon, chocolate, copper, khaki, mauve, petroleo, plum, rain drop, red, vanilla, wheat and white.

Six coordinating bath stories include shower curtains, bath rugs and bath accessories.

In the DKNY Pure line — long a relaxed, white and ivory story — Donna Karan Home is adding a touch of color and more texture with a nod toward spring. Pure Escape, for example, consists of pieced accents of washing linen, cotton and shirting stripes accented by a raw edged double flange.

Pure Tea is a new construction for Pure — a cotton jersey with gathered smocking across the face, creating a ruching effect.

The top-of-the-line Donna Karan Collection has added four new beds. Opaline puts a Sex in the City spin on metallics, with white metal in a geometrical deco pattern on 100$ silk charmeuse, which reverses to cotton voile.

Corinthian is a light-weight, blush-toned habutai silk featuring graphic embroidery; Nomad is a silk duvet constructed in a casual, rustic weave, with tailored, linear stripes in an earthy palette.

Pavilion is a two-toned silk embroidered motif running horizontally across a section of the sateen voile duvet.
