Matthews, N.C. – Imex Vinyl Packaging said the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved the issuance of a patent No. 7,185,762 for the company's Reach-In + Touch patch handle, filed on March 6, 2007. The handle allows consumers to reach in and feel the product inside, without having to open the packaging.
Neal Ferris, product and sales specialist for Imex, developed the concept for the handle in 2004. Major retailers such as JC Penney have already used it in private label packaging.
This is the second patent that Imex has been issued in the past seven years.
